Pet Dog Manners - Level 1

This course is for young dogs over 16 weeks.

Duration: 5 sessions - 1 orientation without dogs and 4 sessions with dogs

Wouldn’t it be nice if your dog walked on the lead without pulling, sat for a pat from visitors instead of jumping up, and behaved well around food, other people, and dogs?

This course is a great for all young dogs. If you’ve been to my puppy class, your puppy has already started to learn basic good manners and how to be polite and social. But to get your dog comfortable in all kinds of situations, you need to practice in many different environments and with increasing distractions. In this class, we will work on:

  • Sit, Down, Wait

  • Loose-lead walking, including walking past other dogs

  • Come when called

  • Accepting friendly strangers / greeting people politely

  • How to leave things alone when asked

For the orientation, please leave your dog behind and we’ll sit down and chat about the basics of dog training so you’re all set to work with your dog in the course and afterwards.

Pet Dog Manners - Level 2

Suitable for all dogs who have started their basic training, this 4 week course follows on from Pet Dog Manners Level 1.  Completion of Level 1 is not required to start this course, but a very short assessment may be needed instead.

Is your dog a social butterfly and jumps up on everybody she meets? Or maybe you have an enthusiastic door dasher? Does your need to learn calm and polite manners around food or toys, or learn that ‘sit’ means ‘sit’ no matter what distractions are about? This one-session course centers around building a solid behaviour for building your dog’s impulse control.

It can be frustrating to feel like your dog is taking you for a walk instead of the other way around. This class gives you the tools you need to take calm, safe, and “easy on the arms” walks with your dog.
